Food can be a great source of joy in our lives particularly when shared with friends and loved ones. We recently come across Maggie Beers latest cook book ‘Maggie’s Recipe for Life’ written in collaboration with Professor Ralph Martins with the suggestion that good food can reduce your chances of Alzheimer’s and other lifestyle diseases. Informative and packed with delicious recipes to enjoy and within our four seasons, this book could heal your body and your soul.
We also came across some remarkable images by Hargreaves Levin & Caitlin Levin and we thought the pears, potatoes, sage, rosemary, brussel sprouts, persimmons, shallots, nutmeg, mandarins & cranberries was anappropriate way to celebrate Maggie’s idea of the beauty of good food for life.
As an all girl design team we are always inspired by strong creative women who love style and colour. Meet Ilona Royce Smithkin at 97 years young she is an artist, teacher, author and a model for Ari Seth Cohen @advancedstyle. She is truly inspiring for the way she completely embraces her own individuality and we totally love the fact that she makes her gorgeous lashes from her own hair. Woo!
Spring is definitely in the air and we can’t wait. It’s always so lovely to have a change of season and spring is an all round favourite. We hope this charming image will get you in the mood to savour longer days, the sweet smell of blossom and warmer days ahead.
On route to a holiday in Australia’s red centre it was by chance that our small travelling party were lucky enough to have a private viewing of the current exhibition at the Warburton Art Project, Warburton WA. We were treated to a thoroughly detailed and enthusiastic narrative by director Gary Proctor. With their substantial and harmonious colour palettes, these free flowing and large scale works full of story and significance would make great discussion pieces for any care facility, home or office interior.
Following on from a fabulous time at DenFair 2017 in Melbourne earlier this month, we were lucky enough to get to Sydney and be immersed in the wonderful light and sound show that is Sydney Vivid.
And what a show it was! We spent many hours walking the Sydney streets and harbour areas taking in the captivating, and often poetic installations on offer. It was a photographer paradise but this particular installation 'Freedom of Movement' captivated us all with its core mission to change the way we move.
We are totally inspired by the amazing autumn colours. This creeper reminded us of a beautiful tapestry rug, snapped at a day in the Yarra Valley when visiting Melbourne last week. Enjoy bathing in the beauty of this most colourful of seasons.
We love to use of floral arrangements when fitting out our interiors projects. The more natural the better. They provide beauty and greenery as well as a valuable connection to nature. Our Australian native Eucalypts and wildflowers are currently in bloom and we can’t get enough of them – simply stunning!
We had the great pleasure of being taken to lunch at China Tang, Harbour City in Kowloon on our recent trip to Honk Kong, thanks to our wonderful client and LWK Interiors. Not only was the food amazing but the interiors were completely delightful. Elegant luxury and an inspiring mix of Chinese and European design.
Under stormy skies this month, the Perth International Arts Festival presented our beautiful city of Perth with 'Boorna Waanginy: The Trees Speak' - a light and sound wonderland that showcased our indigenous Australians sacred connection to the land.
I missed an incredible exhibition recently on my trip to Paris. It finished just one week before I arrived much to my disappointment. I believe it is worth talking about. A French photographer Laurent Kronenthal took a series of photos documenting the life of large housing projects in Paris. They were buildings built during a housing crisis between the 1950's and the 1980's and are now decaying buildings located in the city's suburban areas. In a statement about the project Kronenthal said "Marked by the passing of time, these massive, grey buildings, like their elder residents, bear the signs of long lives and yet, in these wrinkled faces and cracked walls, in the energy of the bodies and of the facades, emerges the pride and pulse that we thought had disappeared".
