Virtual Reality Goggles for Dementia Therapy

Stimulating activities come in all shapes and sizes. There’s the same old and then there some which require embracing the new! While Virtual Reality isn’t exactly new, the technology is becoming more widely available. However Virtual Reality is all the rage right now and it’s positives for aged care includes conversation starters, movement, memory and exploration. We have spoken about the benifits of VR before, but we were just so excited when we found a great headset with specialised content for aged care from an Australian company - NeuronsVR.

Their VR goggles are used for physical and mental therapy. With built in programs ranging from tours of the Pyramids of Giza and calming beach walks to movement programs and dedicated dementia therapy experiences.

We are especially excited as NeuronsVR founders worked previously in aged care and saw first-hand how bored residents were. When a family member suffered a severe injury and required rehabilitation, NeuronsVR was born.

Combining occupational therapy, industry knowledge and VR technology, the company has been able to create experiences and programs for residents that change the way they see and experience the world.

This is such an exciting way to stimulate residents, we can’t wait to see these rolled out in more facilities!
